URM Seaside Super 10s - the best ever!
What a great day and start to the 2010 season! With such a great turnout and with everyone having such a great time, this is fast turning into a prized event for the Breakers! I believe that we should continue to build the URM Seaside Super 10s every year and long may it continue to be a feature event on the Breakers calendar!
A big thank you to all those on the Committee who helped out on the day. To Chuggers, who pulled all of the teams together and kept the day moving along nicely - well done! I would like to note the input from Dan Bradford and Hugh Wood for their support to the players both on and off the field. To Anne Maree and Bobby - it was great to see you providing the players with such great support. Thanks! To ED, Les, Todd and Paul Evans - thanks for your help on the day with the BBQ, bar and field setup!
It was the first time that the off-field team had worked together in 2010 and everything came together really well.
Bring on the 2010 season!

Pre-season training continues to be a huge success!
The 2010 season is certainly looking as though it's going to be a great one down at the Newport Breakers if pre-season training is anything to go by!
Over 80 players have attended the Tuesday and Thursday sessions down at Porter's Reserve over the last 4 weeks and have really benefited from the coaching direction provided by Hugh Wood, Dan Bradford, Tim Malone and Adrian Skeggs!
The focus so far has been on developing club-wide playing patterns in defence and attack for both the forwards and backs. This has meant that each training session has been far more practical, with opposed drills and match conditions adopted every night.
Numbers have been really good so far and it has really set the scene for an exciting season. But now is the time for those remaining boys who have been 'waiting in the wings' to get down to Porter's - especially with trial matches starting this weekend!
See you down at Porter's from 6.30pm!
New players always welcome!
Breakers start with great numbers on opening training night!
The Newport Breakers had their first training sessions of the season last Tuesday (2nd) and Thursday (4th).
There was a mixture of old and the new to the club at Porter's Reserve. The 42 players were guided through drills and skills by 1st XV coach Dan Bradford and Colts mentor Tim Malone. Ex-Wallaby Adrian Skeggs cast an approving eye over proceedings as his role as trouble-shooter/consultant to the beach-side club!
Pre-season training continues next Tuesday and Thursday at Porter's Reserve, Newport from 6.30pm.
Colts coach announcement!
Newport Rugby is proud to announce the appointment of Tim Malone as the club's Colts coach in 2010!
Following the key appointments of Hugh Wood and Dan Bradford as Director of Rugby and 1st Grade coach respectively, the appointment of Tim represents a huge step for the club as it builds towards 2010!
After a great first season at the helm of the Colts in 2009, Tim will certainly be looking to take the team on to a Premiership in 2010 and, ultimately, for those Colts players to be pushing for higher honours at Newport in the Senior grade ranks. Congratulations Tim!
