Club Patron David Pitt awarded OAM!It is with absolute pleasure that the Newport Breakers can publicise the announcement of Club Patron, David Pitt's award of the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the Queen's Birthday public holiday list. The Medal of the Order of Australia is awarded for service worthy of particular recognition. The Order of Australia is the pre-eminent way Australians recognise the achievements and service of their fellow citizens. Nominations to the Order of Australia come directly from the community: either individuals or groups. Awards in the Order of Australia are publicly announced on Australia Day (26 January) and the Queen’s Birthday public holiday (June). David's receipt of the OAM was for "service to the community of Newport, particularly through Rugby Union football, and as a contributor to the newsagency industry in New South Wales." This is obviously a fantastic honour and achievement for David and the Newport Breakers congratulate him on the award. The club would once again like to thank him for his tireless efforts in helping establish the Breakers as one of the top Suburban rugby clubs in Sydney. 16th Annual Pub to Pub Fun Run - Sunday, 24 AugustThe Northern Beaches most famous fun run, The 16th Annual Pub to Pub Fun Run (and walk) is on again on Sunday, 24 August, so it's time to get your sandshoes on and start training for this fantastic family event.
